Medication Management
Careful, thoughtful use of medications is an invaluable part of many people’s recovery. We can help with this.
At Southeastern Psychiatric Associates we have worked hard to assemble a group of doctors and nurse practitioners who are compassionate, knowledgeable, and demonstrate good judgment. We take the time to listen to our patients. We understand that people are not just a collection of chemicals, so decisions about medications must also take into account the psychological, genetic, environmental, and social dimensions of our patients. Most of our prescribers also do at least some psychotherapy, and so have a deeper awareness of these complexities.
We understand that all medication decisions involve weighing the pros and cons of the various choices, sometimes including not taking a medication. We respect that you need to have someone who will take the time to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, not jump to conclusions, and not dictate “doctor’s orders.”
When it’s appropriate, we will order lab tests, consult with your primary care doctor or other specialists, and use cutting edge technologies like genetic testing.
Most important of all, we will keep meeting regularly with you, for as long as it takes to get you a result you can feel good about.
